Photo Diary: Scenes from Small Town, Georgia

View of the State Fair in Georgia, taken from the highway

After I graduated college, my dad and my stepmom moved up to a small town near Atlanta, Georgia, not too far from a place where I lived with my mom and dad when I was a baby. Michael and I make the drive every so often to visit, taking time to enjoy local sights and restaurants in their area and along the route. Our current hometown is undergoing so much change right now; when we drive through many of these smaller Georgia towns I feel a sense of wonder. So much is still the way it has been for a long time, and there is a palpable sense of community.

While change is undoubtedly coming – particularly with the influx of film production throughout the state – there seems to be an effort to retain the original sense of the place (fingers crossed it will be a welcoming place for all).

Still relatively new to the US food scene, rolled ice cream is picking up steam here too.
