Happy Sunday!

We’re supposed to be finalizing plans for our trip to Minneapolis next week, but Michael is mostly just scrolling Reddit and showing me things like, “Imagine ‘pineapples’ is pronounced like Minneapolis.”

Lately, my energy levels are practically at zero. I think some of it has to do with the fact that the high temperatures are in the mid-nineties without any sign of relief in the forecast; Summer is here regardless of what the calendar says. I’m hoping that our quick trip up north next weekend will help revitalize and restore me.

Here’s what I’ve been reading as I move from one air-conditioned place to the next:

Sale Alert! Eagle Creek is offering 25% off select travel products; I do love my Away cubes because they fit precisely with my suitcase, but I know lots of people swear by Eagle Creek’s compression cubes!

I loved reading through this Minneapolis City Guide on Cup of Jo.

Previously, on wayward: two years ago we were dining at Bern’s; one year ago we visited St. Augustine for the day.

Life & Home

Why yes, it is ridiculous.

Why parents in the U.S. are parking outside of the Emergency Room for hours.

I’m kind of digging this new collection from IKEA, especially this cast iron pot that can serve as a Dutch oven or a pot+pan combo.

What you should know about vaccines.

Food

This dessert combines two of my favorites into one: Pavlova Cheesecake.

We’ve recently gotten hooked on Trader Joe’s Organic Refried Pinto Beans to use in quesadillas and enchiladas (and also this bean burger recipe, ohmygoodness), but I should probably start making my own. This recipe uses lentils and looks like an amazing swap.

I’ve never deep-fried anything because a) it’s not particularly healthy and I figure I’d probably end up making too much food and b) it kind of scares me. This recipe, though, sounds very approachable.

Starting tonight! Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend, Everlane is offering free two-day shipping on all domestic orders and free express shipping on international orders over USD 100 for 24 hours only. Pictured above are just a few of my favorite items from the retailer (but if you’ve ever seen any of my packing list posts you already knew that!).

I rarely flip through catalogs, but I checked out the most recent one from Amour Vert the other day and was immediately drawn to a bunch of raw silk pieces. These pants look beautifully effortless for summer (I can just see myself strolling down the French Riviera in them…) and if I hadn’t just bought a silk bomber, I’d probably start saving up for this one. And red is not my color, but this dress

Speaking of raw silk, Only Child just dropped four new garments, including this gorgeous raw silk wrap dress.

What the heck is cupro?

And about those Target collaborations

I loved reading Megan’s thoughts about her #simplyshowup challenge on Instagram. Have you ever participated in an Instagram challenge?

The Madewell x Outdoor Voices collection is gooood.

…and if I didn’t already have a black silk cami, this one would be in my shopping cart.

Things I bought this week

1. Silk Tank, Urban Outfitters (thredUP referral for 45% off) | 2. Wooden Barrette (linked to similar) | 3. Mini Hoop Earrings, Machete | 4. Silk Tank, Madewell (similar solid silk tank or similar patterned tank option)

A goal I’ve made for myself is to purchase wardrobe pieces secondhand when possible. I’ve identified a few gaps in my warm-weather wardrobe like easy-wearing silk tanks, and spent some time searching Poshmark for inspiration. This week I ordered two silk tanks from the popular resale app (one is not-pictured – I’m currently working on getting the platform to approve a return for an item that the seller measured incorrectly, one of the downsides of shopping final sale), and one from thredUP. I’ve already worn the patterned scoop neck tank, and I feel it will get much use during these warm days. Last weekend in Lafayette, Louisiana I made two purchases: these earrings I’d been eyeing online from a local shop and a wooden barrette (similar option) from the woodworker at the living history museum. I love picking up accessories when we travel; it adds an extra layer of meaning to the items I choose to wear.

What was the last item you bought secondhand?
