I never thought we’d get here.

Seriously, this was like the longest week known to (wo)man. Returning to work on Monday morning after a week off and with a time change was an almost impossible task. My internal clock is still out of whack.

This week Michael and I have been busy trying to get back in the swing of things, and I’ve spent more time than usual away from the house in the evenings. There’s a cultural festival in our town today, and I was asked by members of our gym if I would participate in the dance portion of the festival with them. I don’t know why, but the word “yes” tumbled out of my mouth before I even realized what was happening.

And then one dance somehow turned into four dances in front of the general public and oh my gosh, I am a bundle of nerves. Supposedly these kinds of things get easier the more you do them, but my anxiety levels say otherwise.

So, let’s distract ourselves, shall we? Here are some interesting things from the internet this week:

Travel

The NYT recently visited St. Augustine for its 36 Hours feature. We visited one of the oldest cities in the nation last year, and this has us itching for a return trip!

Package Free Shop now has a section dedicated to low-waste travel products. Just a few simple swaps can make your trip easier on your wallet and the environment, how cool is that?

Getting through a flight with just the two of us is enough, but here are some tips if you’re venturing on a plane with a little one!

Need some dining inspo for the next time you visit London? Here’s a roundup of where to eat in the capital city!

Heading to Paris instead? Wit & Delight shared their guide to the City of Light, and it’s a good one.

Food

Blondies? For breakfast? Yes, please.

For a short time, you can get the Kindle version of David Lebovitz’s My Paris Kitchen for $1.99 on Amazon. I always love his writing about living in Paris, and he’s one of my trusted sources for recipes, too.

Life & Home

East Fork just released an updated version of #themug. It’s absolutely stunning, and of course, sold out! I’m waiting to replace any of our current tableware until it becomes unusable so I’m holding off on purchasing, but if you missed out on The Mug, you can at least be consoled with The Mug Tee.

The more we travel, the more we see new businesses using a cashless policy. The city of Philadelphia has banned this practice for a very important reason.

I’m loving Madewell’s new collaboration with The New Denim Project! While the clothes are beautiful, they’re not quite me. But the housewares! I’m super into this rug and this apron.

Style

My favorite T-Top has been refreshed as a v-neck (the name? The V-Top!)

Everlane’s chino release left me feeling underwhelmed (the wide chinos are okay – but do they wrinkle? – and the straight chinos just didn’t do it for me), however I’m quite attracted to their new cotton and linen blend sweater. Hmm… I haven’t added it to cart yet, but I’m definitely considering the sand color for cold offices and chilly nights.

I have all the heart eyes for the new Only Child collection, but especially this jumpsuit (no longer available). Plus, I’ve loved seeing all of the ways Andrea styles the updated Cove pant.

Things I bought this week

After purchasing more than usual last week and feeling a bit preoccupied with “life stuff” this week, I didn’t focus much of my attention on shopping. However, I’ve had some returns credit parked in my Everlane account for some time, and I decided to give the Cotton Crew in Stone and 90s Cheeky Straight Jean in Bone a try.

I’m hoping the crew will be a good neutral for layering under light-colored tops and sweaters, and I’m anxious to swap out my Airism tees because I’ve found they retain odors (gross). A lot of influencers were gifted the 90s Cheeky Straight Jean and have apparently fallen in love with the cut – I’ve never been able to make a pair of 100% cotton jeans work for my body type, but as I’m still looking for the perfect pair of white jeans I figured, why not?

How do you handle public speaking and performances? Do you relish the spotlight, or are you happier in the audience?
