2019 Father’s Day Gift Guide

Quick PSA: Father's Day is June 16 here in the U.S. and over fifty countries!

With Memorial Day behind us, the month of May is all but gone; ready or not it’s time to look ahead to June. Father’s Day isn’t quite the major gift-giving holiday as Mother’s Day, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore our Dads, father figures, and anyone else who identifies as such. Today I’m sharing a small selection of items geared toward making Dad’s life on the go a bit easier – and helping him stay stylish wherever he ends up.  And with a starting price of $25, you’ll have plenty of wriggle room to add in some type of experience or getaway if you wish (tip: get siblings involved if possible to plan and purchase an experiential gift)! To note, the items here have been selected for their aesthetics and functionality, as I hold a personal belief that the best gifts have both. And as always, I’ll only ever share items that I own or would own, scouts’ honor.

1. Collapsible Helmet | 2. Vintage White Bandana | 3. Emergency Heat and Light Candle | 4. Performance Chino | 5. Leather Camera Strap* | 6. Men’s Travel Derby | 7. Water-Resistant Travel Backpack* | 8. The Muncher* | 9. Binchotan Cleansing Set

1. Collapsible Helmet | This helmet is perfect for the commuter- or cyclist-Dad (particularly the one who always has an excuse for not wearing a helmet), as it folds down by more than 60% when it’s not in use and can be stowed in the accompanying carry pouch.

2. Vintage White Bandana | Okay, so don’t be surprised if you see me purchasing these in one of my Digital Wanderings posts. This bandana is simple and practical, acting as everything from a handkerchief to an emergency pocket square to a bandage to a luggage marker. [Learn ten reasons why you should always travel with a bandana here]

3. Emergency Heat and Light Candle | The “men don’t use candles” ploy is a little cringe, but these candles are well-loved for their lighting time and scent. And the tin canister makes it less likely to break (or spontaneously combust – looking at you, West Elm candles).

4. Performance Chino| Dad’s favorite pant style has been redesigned in a lightweight, slightly stretchy cotton for travel to warmer destinations. Now there’s no excuse for wearing shorts in non-short-friendly locales.

5. Leather Camera Strap* | So much nicer to look at and use than the logo-ed polyester strap that came with his camera!

6. Men’s Travel Derby | These shoes weigh less than one pound (for both) and can pack down flat (more room for Mom’s stuff!). Just be sure to gift him a bottle of suede protectant as well.

7. Water-Resistant Travel Backpack* | This water-resistant bag is a great alternative to the standard weekender or duffle, as it can be carried on the back or by the handles. It’s also from a Danish company, which means they take waterproofing seriously and Dad won’t have to worry if the weather suddenly changes.

8. The Muncher* | Just in case Dad needs an excuse to start dipping his toe into the Zero Waste world, this tool has everything: spork, knife, bottle opener, peeler, and… fire flint.

9. Binchotan Cleansing Set* | This set is a great way to get Dad to embrace skincare if he hasn’t already (edit: no longer available as a set). And if he already has, then Dad will know what a great gift he’s receiving!
