Spring 10×10 Preview

It feels like we just did this, doesn’t it? Frankly, I wasn’t quite ready for another 10×10 challenge, but after some reflection, I figured the main word in the phrase is challenge and I decided to complete one last challenge. So here we are again! (Lost? It’s not you, it’s me. I’m terrible at introductions, so it’s probably best to read more about the 10×10 directly from its creator).

Florida is currently experiencing Spring-like, almost Summer-like weather, so for once I feel my outfits will align with the season. I know much of the rest of the US is still facing snow ahead; please don’t envy us as we will soon enter our hottest season and begin sweating in places you can’t even imagine. Planning took even less time than usual – I knew what I wanted to wear going in, and designed my selection around soothing tones like chalk, navy, grey, and blush.

For the Spring 10×10, I wanted to give myself the challenge of dressing in lighter colors and tones. So often I reach for black because it’s easy, flattering, matches everything, and most importantly of all, hides stains. Every time I wear white, I feel like I’m destined for an utter stain disaster. Fingers crossed I can avoid any catastrophes this time around; laundry is always somewhat of a tricky thing to handle during the 10×10, and I’m not sure I’ll have time to tackle any stains.

In addition to living very dangerously, I also wanted to use this opportunity to break in a few recent purchases and see how (and if) they’ll work with the rest of my garments. And as always, I’m looking for ways to get creative with fewer garments to make packing a breeze.

Let’s take a look at the ten items I selected for what will likely be my final 10×10:

MY SPRING 10×10 PICKS

A collage of all ten items in the Spring 10x10

1. Black Silk Tee*
2. Blush Pima Tee
3. Natural Linen Tee*
4. Silk High-Low Tunic
5. Grey Blazer*
6. Black Slim Pants*
7. Blue Skinny Jeans*
8. Sleeveless Shirtdress*
9. Black Leather Loafers*
10. Sand Nubuck Mules [save 20% with code WAYWARDBLOG20]

My initial thoughts: these are simple pieces; I mean, half have already appeared in previous 10x10s. When it comes to traveling, though, these are the types of garments that work hard and fit in well in a variety of destinations. I’m looking forward to combining them in new ways and having the chance to play with accessories.

Does this sound like fun? It’s not too late to join in! Go to your closet (or clean laundry basket, no judgments here) and pull ten items you think will work well together. Don’t make it too difficult, but do give yourself a little bit of a challenge or source of focus. Pick a theme, color, or cut to work with, or try to incorporate new pieces or pieces you’ve been considering letting go of. But most of all, I think it’s important to choose pieces that will make you feel confident.

Ready? Let’s go!
