We’re almost a third of the way through June, can you believe it?

Since it is summer, work has slowed down slightly for me, but things are ramping up for Michael and it’s kept him quite busy. He’ll be gone for a few nights this week, which means I’ll be home alone for the first time in this creaky old house. Even though he hasn’t left yet, I’m already anxious for his return because that means our beach weekend has arrived!

As for this weekend, our plans include taking things slow. My body feels like it needs an endless amount of rest and I want to try to give it what it craves. We’ve both booked a massage, which we promised we would do after we moved in January (whoops), so we are long overdue. I’m ready to indulge in a little self-care this weekend!

Here’s a roundup of five summer camps for grown-ups. Would you go back to camp if you could?

One of my favorite food bloggers shared the restaurants and bakeries he recently visited in NYC. I’m so ready to book a trip – it’s been much too long since we visited New York!

Life & Home

The plants you should have in your bedroom. You might catch my snake plant peeking out in my #ootd Instagram Stories – as a frequent plant-killer (sorry!) I’ve somehow managed to keep this one alive.

Terrain is holding a 25% off everything sale, this weekend only. Perhaps now is a good time to get started on those bedroom plants, or maybe a portable lunch bowl (saving money on takeout lunches), or a travel size of that facial oil you’ve always wanted to try.

Reading/Watching Before we left for Mexico City I placed a number of books relevant to the city on hold at the library; of course, I didn’t have time to read them all before we left, so I’m still working through my stack. I just finished “The Interior Circuit” and have now started “The Savage Detectives” (I probably should have reversed the order though, as the first book referenced the second several times). Once I’m finished with my Mexico City books, I will go collect the “Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat” cookbook from the library (I’m excited about that!). TV-wise, we limit ourselves to one episode a night, which can still feel like a lot of screen time at the end of the day. I downloaded a few episodes of “Dead to Me” to watch on the plane ride home from Minneapolis because I thought Michael wouldn’t be interested in the show; instead we both finished the show together once we got back because it was just so good. We knew the second season of “Killing Eve” would be irresistible, so we waited for the full season to be released before watching the episodes. I won’t give any spoilers, but please go watch it if you can. It’s good.

Food

Have you heard of Sakara? I received a flyer from them in the mail the other day and totally took the bait. Michael and I have been discussing completing another plant-based diet reset, but I expressed concern about the amount of effort it took for us to prepare all of the meals the last time we did it. I found that since I was focused on preparing food all day long, that food is all I really ever thought about, leaving me feeling a bit stressed and deprived. This company’s three-day plan sounds amazing, but as someone who lives in a low COL area and spends less than $10 a week on packed lunches, the price gives me pause. Has anyone tried it?

Although this is considered a winter recipe, I think it would be a delicious, cold summertime dish prepared with both pickled and roasted beets.

And here’s a milkshake recipe with cauliflower, because we put vegetables in everything these days.

Style

You’ve probably already heard about the launch of the new Warm Weather items from Elizabeth Suzann, but I thought I’d mention it just in case. I’m most immediately drawn to the Isadora Jumpsuit in silk crepe. If I were absurdly wealthy I would completely empty my pajama drawer and buy a week’s worth of this jumpsuit to lounge and sleep in. ES silk is seriously dreamy.

There are some good things over at the Goop sale (I know, I know), like this dreamy tank and these classic flats with a twist. And to make your travels easier, there is an international USB charger included in the sale.
