Travel Essentials: My Top Picks from the Shopbop Sale

Set of packages next to front door

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a great progressive sale going on over at multi-brand fashion-fave Shopbop, where the more you spend, the more you can save.

There are a ton of items included in the sale, even ones that I never see go on sale, all at up to 25% off. I spent some time this morning checking out the sale and picking out some of my favorite travel-related finds. Keep in mind, the savings start at a total purchase price of $200+, so if your shopping cart value is lower than that, unfortunately, the discount won’t apply.

This post contains affiliate links and I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking one of these links (at no additional cost to you!). Thank you for your support - it enables me to run this site ad-free!

It helps to shop early, as sizes are already limited in some items (particularly the sale-on-sale items).

I’ve rounded up my top travel picks from the sale, from packing helpers to in-flight necessities, in case you too have a trip on the horizon. And though you’ve heard my disclaimer before, I’ll add it here again:

If purchasing these items won’t add much value to your life, or if their cost would prevent you from caring for your home and health (and yes, the ability to travel), please don’t purchase them. Carefully consider the impact your purchase will have on your life, your wallet, and our planet. As always, the items featured here are items I already own or would purchase.

I should also note that items pictured were available and on sale at the time of initial publication, but may no longer be available or discounted. Ready to dive in on my Shopbop travel picks?

PACKING MADE EASY

Packing isn't everyone's favorite part of traveling; here are a few things to make it more enjoyable:

Packable Daypack Backpack | While I usually don’t advocate for packing something “just in case,” more often than not I’ve been pleased by my decision to add a collapsible bag to my suitcase. It’s particularly helpful on the way back as a way to bring home dirty laundry – just throw it in the wash, too!

Caroline Zip Travel Case | Jewelry is a great way to change up an outfit if you’re traveling light. This travel case from WOLF holds plenty of rings, earrings, and other baubles. Plus, you never know when you’ll need a good-sized mirror.

Plane Travel Pouch | This cheeky pouch would be a great way to separate the items you’ll use in flight, like granola bars, headphones, and earplugs. And it will be easy to spot inside your tote or backpack.

Everywhere Travel Wallet | This wallet is blessedly less massive than many other travel wallets (some are seriously the size of a novel!) yet will still hold plenty of currency, cards, and your passport.

Vanity Case | Yes, this is called a “vanity case,” but no, you don’t have to lug a bunch of beauty products in it (but you also totally can). A smaller hard-shell case would work well inside a soft-shell case or duffel bag to protect any fragile items you may bring with you.

Not Today, Jetlag

There are a number of things available in the sale that are sure to make transit more comfortable:

Cashmere Eye Mask | Score some sweet, sweet shuteye in this cashmere eye mask. Who knows? Maybe it will make that economy seat feel a little more like first class…

Windowpane Blanket Scarf | Blanket scarves are truly magical when it comes to air travel. They can act as either a pillow or a blanket, yet can be wrapped around your neck so they don’t take up any of your precious luggage allowance.

Leather Luggage Tag | Tell everyone to not touch your stuff without saying a word. Having an identifier on your luggage helps speed things up at the baggage carousel should you have to check a bag, which means you’ll be off exploring your destination or home finally getting some sleep faster.

Travel Kit | Even if you don’t end up using all of the items in your kit, you could possibly be the hero in your seat row. “Why yes, cute passenger in 6D, I do have a spare eye mask” *spritzes breath spray*.

Drinking Enough Water Bottle | You’re essentially destined for dehydration the second you step foot on a plane (either that or to rack up a bunch of charges for water bottles). Get a head start at staying healthy and hydrated by bringing an empty bottle through security and filling it up before your flight. This one even helps you track how much you’ve had – great for those who hate drinking plain water and need a little boost.

Destination Lifesavers

Here are a few things your future self will thank you for:

Packable Fedora | I’ve had to purchase many a cheap, crummy hat on vacation because I neglected to bring one and got sunburned. Don’t be like me. Instead, bring a nice, packable hat like this one that you’ll want to wear at your destination and once you’re back home.

Underwater Camera | It’s back! Film is cool again, and this camera takes me right back to the summers of my childhood when we’d occasionally splurge on a disposable underwater camera to bring to the beach or pool. And hey, you’ll have to wait a week to see the photos you’ve taken, which gives you plenty of time to get excited.

5-in-1 Universal Adapter | I’d rather avoid desperately having to seek out a shop to purchase an international charger for my phone after a long flight, so I always make sure to bring one with me. I like that this set is brightly colored and easy to find.

Beach Stuff Bag | No matter how long your swimsuit has been dangling over the edge of your balcony, it never feels quite dry. Protect the rest of your belongings and pack anything slightly damp in a bag like this (just be sure to immediately take it out and wash it when you return home!).

Travel Pack | I can’t get enough of The Laundress’ products (note: after their 2022 recall, I no longer recommend The Laundress), and this is a really great deal on some of their best stuff. I can’t travel without Crease Release these days.

Like a Local

Dressing to blend in at your destination is a fun way to try new trends and feel more at ease in a strange place:

Adele Sundress| How sweet is this little sundress? It’s a pretty color for warm-weather days and is even bra-friendly thanks to its fluttery straps. Plus, it wouldn’t look out of place in a cooler climate either – just add a white turtleneck underneath and a pair of oxfords.

Clean 90 Multicolor Sneakers | Don’t get me wrong, I still love my Vejas – but these sneakers are really good. They’re simple and clean without being boring, and you’ll feel right at home in them in just about any city.

Ado Convertible Belt Bag | Ahh, yes, a belt bag. Traveling hands-free is a must, and this bag can be worn over the shoulder or at the hip. Just be sure to keep the pouch in front of your body – the only hands you want in this bag are your own.

Jamaika String Bodysuit | This bodysuit would work well as a base layer in the winter and pair with a skirt in the summer. It’s sleek and clean, and VPL-free.

Gabi Booties | Check out the heel cutout on these babies! You’re sure to stand out in these (but not too much) and a chunkier heel will keep you safe on the bumpiest streets.

Rain Overcoat | This raincoat is about as minimal as a trench-like coat can get. I love the ease of a snap and the option to simply belt it at the waist.

Harvest Sunglasses (Alternative Fit) | I always end up with marks on my cheeks when wearing bigger sunglasses, but this fit promises to end that. I like that this chic, well-made pair doesn’t have a flashy logo on the side, making the wearer less of a target for pick-pockets.

Korkira Sandals | Sadly Shopbop doesn’t carry my beloved Clio sandals, but the Korkiras were too stunning not to include in this roundup. They’re strappy, which means your foot is secure, and a great neutral for pairing with everything.

Santa Barbara Maillot | You’ve seen Marysia’s scalloped suits everywhere over the past few years, but I think this one is my favorite. Sure, it would look great by the pool or at the beach, but it would also be perfect with some high-waisted denim or a flirty skirt.

Convertible Loafers | Although these are called “convertible loafers,” I really think they mean “foldable loafers” (but correct me if I’m wrong). These loafers sandwich flat, yet don’t have the cheap look of the packable flats of yesteryear.
